Hike Information

A two day hike is organised to take place during this year's National Camp for all participants aged 13 years and over (Starshe Yunatstvo and Druzhynnyky). The hike is in the form of a canyoning trip and will take place from the evening of 28 December until 30 December. Please find below important information regarding the hike.

Who Participants will be Starshe Yunatstvo and Druzhynnyky attending tabir
Trip leaders will be A. Duma and M. Tkaczuk (have pre-walked the entire trip)
Several parents/adults (qualified teachers) will also be attending to assist
What 2 day trip 1.25 hours away from CYM tabir, camping over night at Mt. Wilson
Trip involves 2 one day descents into and canyoning (liloing) down Wollongambe River
Participants will be split up in two groups, completing two canyons alternate days
Leading up to the trip, all intending participants will need to successfully complete the practice sessions down the Colo River during tabir and have ALL required equipment
Participants will only be taking day packs into the gorge to carry equipment / food required for each days canyoning. Tents/sleeping bags etc will be left at the campground at Mt Wilson
ALL participants must have a completed Risk Recognition Form to be able to attend
When Depart CYM tabir in evening of 28/12/06 and returning late afternoon 30/12/06
Transport will be by private vehicles of participating parents, leaders and Druzhynnyky
Costs All participants will need to provide their own camping equipment as noted in the tables below. Food and Transport costs are covered as part of tabir payment
Equipment Only 2 days and limited room in cars so please keep to a minimum as outlined below.

Bring and leave at Mt. Wilson campsite
Hiking tent (to share) Mug, bowl, spoon, fork
Small gas stove Waterproof rain jacket
Kettle/Billie Warm jacket and beanie
Sleeping mat Toiletries
Groundsheet Water bottles
Sleeping Bag Change of pants and shirt
Matches Towel
Torch Toilet Paper
Sandles/thongs Walking shoes
Take with you for canyoning
Day backpack (approx. 35L) Bathers
Lilo/air-mattress (rubber, not vinyl) Water bottle
Patch kit and spare plug Sun-hat
Sports shoes for use in gorge/water Sunscreen
Neoprone top or spring wet-suit Insect Repellent
Bandaids Warm polar fleece/jumper
Quick dry towel Walking top/t-shirt
Walking pants Water proof 'dry-sack'
Walking shoes/socks Plastic bags
