Sydney's Olympic Zlet - Day 1

Approximately 40 sumivtsi attended opening of the World Olympic Zlet in Sydney -
participants from
Sydney, Melbourne and Geelong (Australia) welcomed visiting participants from
the United States, Canada and Great Britain. The zlet was officially
opened by Petro Duma, President of CYM Australia's National Executive.
Vasyl Senko was named komendant of the event, with Justin Semciw as Bunshyzhnyj.
Participants recieved warm greetings from CYM;s World Executive; Fr. Zenon Chorkawyj of
Sydney; Slavko Duma - President of the Ukrainian Council of New South Wales,
and Vasyl Senko holova of CYM Sydney.
The torch held in the photo above is a real Olympic torch that was used in one of the legs of the torch relay
through Australia. Ihor Ferenc
was one of very few Ukrainians privileged to be chosen to be a torch bearer!
Word from the Zlet is that everywhere you go in Sydney at the moment you can feel the Olympic spirit.
There are signs of the games everywhere, and Sydney is all buzzing in
anticipation of the opening ceremony and the Games of the XXVII Olympiad!
