In 2010, when we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the formation of CYM in Australia, we also mark another important commemoration, the 60th anniversary of the death of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) - Roman Shukhevych- Taras Chypruynka
As in previous years, CYM members took an active part in this commemoration to honour the memory of, and acknowledge, a great Ukrainian patriot - Roman Shukhevych- Taras Chypruynka.
On Sunday, 27 June 2010, the Ukrainian Hromada Queanbeyan with the assistance of CYM Canberra-Queanbeyan, Soyz Ukrainok and Ukrainian Kozaky organised Sviato Heroiv.
The stage was decorated with Ukrainian flags, flowers and a large painting representing the graves of Ukrainian heroes, above which was a large Tryzyb.
It was moving to see side-by-side on the stage the Ukrainian Flag and the Flag of our Oseredok.
Sviato Heroiv was opened by Mr Spesyvy, President, Hromada Queanbeyan who extended a warm welcome to everyone and acknowledged the presence of Mr Mykola Dzhydzhora , Second Secretary, Embassy of Ukraine, Father Oleh Stefanyshyn, Parish Priest, Parish of Saint Volodymyr Canberra Queanbeyan and Imoct Natalka Stefanyshyn, and the Presidents of CYM, Council of Ukrainian Hromady NSW, Soyz Ukrainok and Ukrainian Kozaky.
Sviato Heroiv commenced with the laying of the CYM wreath by sumeniata Andrijko Stefanyshyn and Lachlan Korodaj and podryha Lori Korodaj. The wreath was made and donated by podryha Sophia Jacyszyn.

To the end of his life Roman Shukhevych- Taras Chypruynka fought against the armies that invaded Ukraine, and in the end he gave his life for Ukraine. His enduring strength, endurance and commitment made him a symbol of the unbroken faith and belief in, and a love for a free and independent Ukraine.
On the 60th anniversary of the death of the Commander-in-Chief of the UPA, we honour the courage of the all members of the UPA its Commander-in-Chief, leaders and warriors who with their faith, courage, strength and endurance helped to bring about an Independent Ukraine as the consequence of all the previous actions undertaken for a free and independent Ukraine.
May the memory of Roman Shukhevych - Taras Chypruynka, and all heroes and heroines of Ukraine, always remain with us.
At the conclusion of the Sviato, we were able to meet over refreshments. The Yprava would like extend our appreciation to our CYM members and parents for their attendance.
