Yalynka 2004
On January 18, 2004 CYM Whippany greeted Christmas with its annual Yalynka. The program opened with the strashe untastvo reciting the poem
"Christ is Born". After the group prayer, the head of our Oseredok welcomed everyone and quoted this year's motto
"Our Language Unites Us," explaining how Ukrainians are not simply united by language but by our history, culture, past, and future as well.
After this our youngest cymivtsi performed a dance "The snowflakes welcome the birth of Christ". The first portion of the program
ended with borsch and kytya.
After our cymenyata recited the short poem "The cat didn't know he needed flour to make a roll", ryj Mecnyky performed
the play "On Chrsitmas Eve," which described our wonderful Christmas Eve
traditions. Once the play was over, the entire hall sat down as one united family for a main course of varennyky and holybtsi.
Once the guests were full the porgram continued with the poem "Zirka", performed by ryj Puhachi. The yunatstvo
sang joyful kolyady with a great deal of energy, and the program concluded with our band playing several Christmas songs.
All the parents, vporyadnyky, and yunatstvo were very pleased with the performance and happily drank coffee and ate
delicious desserts which the parents had prepared.
