Podillya CYM Dance ensemble through to live finalist round of
"Got to Dance" SKY TV contest.
Podilya’s participation in Got to Dance not only showcases the beauty of Ukrainian culture & dance but we hope also represents all Ukrainians in the UK, especially the second born generation’s love of keeping their heritage alive. Podilya feel very honoured to be in this wonderfully privileged position and are eager to do all the Ukrainian communities proud.
Out of a total of 3,000 acts entering the competition it was such an achievement to make the 500 acts selected to audition in front of the judges. Then attaining 3 gold stars to go through to the judges shortlist was amazing. What started out as a dream is now a reality as we are one of the final 28 acts to go through to the LIVE semi finals. This could now lead to something incredible not just for Podilya and the Ukrainian Youth Association but for all Ukrainians. The prize money of £250,000 alone could not only help the Manchester community and beyond, but also assist with projects at the Ukrainian Youth Centre “Tarasivka”.
The live semi finals begin on Sunday 30th January 2011. There are 4 semi final shows with 7 acts performing in each show. The top 2 acts with the highest number of viewing public votes automatically go through to the live final on Sunday 27th February. Podilya will be appearing in the first semi final on Sunday 30th January.
