Sport Activities and Education
Very early on CYM Manchester organised a football team "Sokil", which played successfully for quite a few years but age overcame their best efforts. Once the next generation grew up, sports activities restarted. The youth leader largely responsible for sport was then W. Shablinskyj with the help of younger members S. Kosyk and Y. Kopzcyk. A new football team was formed, teams for volleyball, table tennis and athletics. Manchester teams took part on CYM sports competitions between branches and in Tarasivka (the summer camp) and also European summer camps for the over 16s, often bringing home more prizes and trophies.
The educational council, with I. Ovczaryk at it's head provided courses and lessons for CYM members. Youth leaders who worked with him were T. Kochan, S. Shumka, O. Markowskyj, I. Serenytskyj, L. Woznia, L. Fostun, D. Fedyk, L. Lepka, M. Kowalyshyn, S. Lenio, Z. Serednytka, I. Moklak. S. Lutyshyn was particularly good at directing plays, short sketches and preparing poetry recitals.
Work continued with the third generation of CYM members provided by E. Krywonos, O. Shumka, A. Zamulinska, A. Mykosowska, D. Luczkiw, L. Hunka, N. Smaczylo, W. Krywonos, E. Borsch, C. Marchenko, G. Mandzij.
