This site in Ukrainian 60s - 70s - 80s

During the sixties another link - branch of CYM was formed at Whalley Range to provide CYM for young ukrainians in South Manchester. Chairmen of the link committee were T. Kochan, S. Lutyshyn, A. Krywonos, O. Markowskyj, W. Krywonos, R. Stus, B. Rutkowskyj, Y. Rutkowskyj, W. Dobrianskyj, K. Bohuslaw. This link lasted over 20 years until it was amalgamated with the main branch at Cheetham Hill.
The Manchester branch was fortunate in that during the 70s and 80s it was supported by an advisory council of senior members formed in order to help the committee with fundraising events to facilitate CYM activities. Every year, the senior council organised a bazaar, a spring ball, St. Micheal's Dance and many collections within the ukrainian community.
Manchester has in the past received the highest accolade from the National Executive Committee of CYM - 4 consecutive years of winning the flag for best branch. The pride and joy of our branch are trophies for choirs, dance groups, poetry, music and sport. We are also proud that our members grew up to take responsible posts in the National Committee of CYM and invaluable as organisers of the summer camps in Tarasivka every year.
Membership in 1948 was 92, in 1952 - 160, in 1990 - 236. Sadly many members have passed away, but the branch is rebuilding with the 3rd and 4th generations of young ukrainians.
