National CYM 5-a-side Football Tournament
The National CYM 5-a-side Football Tournament took place on 15th May in Derby. Oseredok Bradford sent two teams, one in each age band - Molodshi (under 13s) and Starshi (13-17).
Our Director of Sports, Alan Lee, reported the following:
"The Molodshi played 8 games (each team playing each other twice). They won 6, drew 2, and lost none, scoring 20 goals and conceding only 2. The squad of Zak and Mike Nestorenko, Max Parfaniuk, Andrij and Slawko Demtschuk, Sofia Rewilak, Crystenka Pichovich and Katherine Lee played brilliantly. Zak and Mike were excellent dribbling with the ball, Max solid as a rock and Slawko very tricky with his jinking little runs. Andrij, our goalkeeper, made several good saves and the girls supported the boys with good covering and tackling. Naturally, the trophy came back to Bradford, after so narrowly missing out last year. All the games were played in a very sporting manner, which was a credit to all the teams involved.
The Starshi played their opponents only once, but the games were longer. As usual, all the games were competitive, but again played very sportingly. Of the 5 games played, Bradford won 4, only losing to eventual winners Manchester. The squad of Ewhen and Petro Chymera, Martin Favell, Michael Holinski, Paul Zamulinski, Johan Rewilak and Danny Walker played really well and were worthy runners up in their league.
Both squads of players did Bradford proud!"
