National CYM 5-a-side Football Competition
The National CYM 5-a-side Football Competition took place on 3rd May 2004. Due to rain, the venue was moved from Tarasiwka, to the JJB Sports Centre at Pride Park. Thanks must go to Bob Sopel, who at very short notice sponsored the event.
Bradford Oseredok sent 2 teams, 1 in each age band - under 13's and 13-17. There were only 4 teams in the Under 13s category, so each team played each other twice. Bradford's results were:
Derby 0-0 & 2-1
Manchester 0-1 & 1-0
Nottingham 3-0 & 1-1
These results gave the team a total of 11 points, the same as Derby. Unfortunately, Derby's goal difference was better by one than Bradford's and they finished top, with Bradford second. The whole team played very well in all the games and with the same group available next year, the future is rosy.
In the 13-17 age group there were 7 teams, each having 6 games. The Bradford squad gave their all, but were just not physically big enough to compete. Their results were:
Derby 1-3
Manchester B 0-0
Rochdale 7-0
Manchester C 1-1
Manchester A 0-3
Nottingham 3-2
Bradford finished 4th in this age group.
Coach Alan Lee was very pleased with the performance of the sumivti from Bradford. In summary, both teams put in a great effort. Well done!
