Irene Jendzjowsky honoured with the 2008 UCC Alberta Hetman Award!
Since 1972, Irene has worked in various capacities on the executive bodies of the Ukrainian Youth Association, not only on the local level, but also on the national and international levels. She fulfilled various roles on the CYM executive as branch Educational Coordinator through the 1980’s and 1990’s. In 1992, Irene expanded her volunteer work onto the national level, becoming the CYM National Executive Educational Coordinator for all Canadian branches. In 2004, Irene became the President of the National Executive and was re-elected for a second term in 2007. Since 2002 to present, Irene has also been the CYM World Executive Educational Coordinator.
Irene’s dedication and contribution to the Ukrainian Youth Association, especially in program development has been unmatched in Canada. Her knowledge, organizational skills and problem solving abilities have helped create a progressive CYM youth program.
Irene has also been actively involved with the Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts, several UCC National initiatives and many other organizations within the Ukrainian community.
Irene Jendzjowsky is a person who quietly and unassumingly produces a wealth of valuable work for the benefit of our children and future generations through volunteer hours. She is a role model to her peers who works tirelessly for the good of the Ukrainian community locally, nationally and internationally. She is truly one of the unsung heroines of our community.
