On a Sunday windy day, April 25, 2004, we had our annual CYM Sviachene in our Oseredok. Yunatstvo, dressed in CYM uniforms, gathered in the hall ready to perform. Mothers, fathers, grandparents and families were seated in the hall awaiting for the program to begin. Podruha Deanna Wruskyj led the program and greeted the guests with “Chrystos Voskres!” to which everyone replied “Voistynu Voskres!” She continued by talking about the Easter season. Among the guests seated at the head table were: Rev. Bohdan Nalysnyk, rector of St. Nicholas Cathedral, Rev. Yaroslav Mendyuk, from Sts. Volodymyr & Olha Parish, Mrs. Olya Kolody, holova of WADFFU-Alla Horska branch, Mrs. Maria Wasko, representative of WADFFU-Oksana Meshko branch, Mr. Ivan Pawlyk, from 8th branch of ADFFU and Selfreliance Ukrainian American Federal Credit Union, and Druh Marian Kolody, our new holova.

Yuntatsvo recited poems and sang songs. The ensemble “Vinok” sang a song in memory of Taras Shevchenko. After the program, Podruha Wruskyj then asked Rev. Nalysnyk to bless the food which was on the tables ready to eat. Rev. Nalysnyk then talked about the Easter season and that spring is a time of being reborn. Podruha Wruskyj then introduced Rev. Yaroslav Mendyuk to also say a few words. Rev. Mendyuk talked about the meaning of the pysanka. After, Podruha Wruskyj then introduced the honored guests who passed on greetings and well wishes and also made donations to our oseredok: Podruha Olya Kolody, Druh Ivan Pawlyk, Mrs. Maria Wasko, and Dr. Julian Kulas.

Podruha Wruskyj then asked Druh Marian Kolody, our holova, to say a few words. He briefly told everyone of the upcoming events in the next few months, for example: “Selo-Fest” and Annual Youth Day Picnic in Palatine, and invited everyone to join in these events. Druh Kolody thanked everyone who helped in the making our Sviachene successful. Guests had an opportunity to make a donation for our Pysanka which went towards the Oseredok.

In closing, podruha Wruskyj asked Rev. Mendyuk to say a final prayer. With that, another Sviachene went into the history of CYM.
