This past year many of our young members had taken their “ispyty”. Druh Taras Drozd and Podruha Marusia Dmyterko passed out certificates and patches and inducted those who were promoted to the next level. A few podruhy who had continually worked with a rij received their patches of promotion. Podruhy Ivanka Bryan, Andrea Maksymiw, Stefczya Kawka, Ulana Dzwinyk and Druh Serhiy Mykhalyuk all received their 1st Vykhovnyk. Druh Roman Kawka received his 2nd Vykhovnyk. Podruhy Kristin Matusiak and Irka Owerko and Druh Marko Czerniuk received their 1st Suspilnyk.

A speech (sviatochne slovo) was given by Podruha Adriana Popowycz in which she explained the meaning of our haslo and how we should always speak in Ukrainian wherever we are. Afterwards, Podruha Natalka Kowal gave prizes to those young members who actively participated throughout the year, not only attending weekly meetings, but also participating in functions within the Ukrainian community representing CYM. All members participated in the formal march and then stood for the group picture.

After lunch the members of the Ukrainian School of Dance and Ukraina and “Vinok” performed. Podruhy Marusia Dmyterko and Natalka Kowal organized an obstacle course for the younger children who all seemed to enjoy.

There was plenty of great food for all which was prepared and served by our young druzhnnychi and mothers. Finally, the picnic ended with our annual raffle.
