In August, commemorating Ukraine's nineth year of independence, Chicago's Mayor Richard Daley hosted a celebration for this event. Our vocal ensemble "VINOK" performed successfully at this event.

On September 17, Governor and Mrs. Ryan hosted a celebration for this event in the Governor's Mansion in Springfield, Illinois. At this event we, among other Ukrainian organizations, received a State of Illinois Grant presented by Governor Ryan. We are grateful to Senator Walter Dudycz for initiating this grant. Once again, our vocal ensemble "VINOK" and a group of dancers from the "VODOHRAJ" group successfully performed at this event.

Members of The School of Ukrainian Dance also performed at the annual "Ukrainian-fest" at Smith Park in Chicago, along with the "UKRAINA" dance ensemble.
