It was a sunny, Sunday on May 14th and we were celebrating two occasions at our Oseredok. Nearly every year, our sviachene is on Mother's Day. While the yunatstvo gathered to go over the songs, the guests and people started coming in and taking their seats at the tables. Podruha Marijka Dzwinyk greeted everyone with "Chrystos Voskres!" and proceeded with the program. The yunatsvo sang "Chrystos Voskres ", rij Solovejky recited a poem and Diana Pawlos with Andrea Dzwinyk sang yet another version of "Chrystos Voskres".

After the yunatsvo finished singing and took their seats, Podruha Marijka presented Rt. Reverend Mitrat Ivan A. Krotec, pastor of Sts. Volodymyr and Olha Parish, to lead in prayer and bless the food. Rev. Krotec then said a few words about Mother's Day and the fact that CYM is a big part of the Ukrainian community and that so many young people belong to such an organization. Podruha Marijka then presented Monsignor Jaroslaw Swyschuk, from St. Nicholas Cathedral, who also said a few words about CYM and the communtity. When Mosignor Swyschuk finished, the guests started to eat the traditional foods eaten at Easter breakfast: kobasa, eggs, ham, beets, and paska.

The best part, was left almost to the end of the program. The little "symenyata", with the help of Podruha Natalka Kosacz and Podruha Stefczya Kawka, recited a poem for Mother's Day. They brought on smiles and applause from everyone! All of the mothers received a flower from our "yunachky".

Podruha Marijka continued with the program and invited the holovy of many organizations and institutions to speak: Mrs.Olha Fedak from WADFFU (Women's Associaiton for the Defense of the Four Freedoms of Ukraine), Dr. Julian Kulas from 1st Security Federal Savings Bank, Mr. John Pavlyk from Selfreliance Ukrainian Federal Credit Union, and others gave their greetings. The holova of our branch---Podruha Chrystya Wereszczak gave her greeting and thanks to the many who have helped in this past celebration of our 50th anniversary.

Many of the guests gave donations for "Pysanka" which goes towards the needs of CYM. After a few more pryvity, it was time to bid farewell to another sviachene, until next year.
