50th Anniversary CYM Manchester
In 1998, the branch celebreated 50 years of continous work. The 14th November 1998 was an unforgetable day for all who were there to witness it and all participants. Three generations of sumivchi came together and performed in a spectacular concert, followed by a ball. A fantastic and probably never to be repeated programme brought together the original members of "Rusalka Dnistrova" and "Podillya" with the youth of today.
A significant part of the nostalgic atmosphere, pride and elation can be attributed to the huge displays of photographs, certificates and trophies that highlighted the 50 years of work of the branch. Roman Panas, head of the national committee, offered his congratulations and awarded the branch a certificate in recognition of its 50 years of good work.
On the occasion of the anniversary, the head of the branch, Wolodymyr Kowalyshyn presented the certificates and thanks to the many long standing youth leaders and helpers of the branch. Particular recognition and appreciation were given to the memorable and longest standing former head of Manchester branch Mr. Dmytro Lytwyn. He was made honary lifetime chairman of CYM Manchester.
