Christmas 2005
As every year before Christmas, sumivtsi decorated the Christmas tree at the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Manchester. Our younger members and sumenyata also put the crib with the Nativity scene at the front of the church.
Two of our older members, Myroslava Kochan and Dianka Bohuslaw and a good friend from Plast Katherine Mychaliuk, all attend the same High School and were invited to dance at the school's Christmas Concert.
On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day members of the Ukrainian Youth Association went out carol singing to visit all Ukrainians in Manchester. This is not as simple as it sounds because in order to make sure that nobody is missed out we had ten groups. The carol singers are made very welcome and sometimes receive gifts of sweets etc.
On Christmas Day the male-voice choir "Homin" sang Mass. Members of CYM had taken the initiative to reform the choir and the parish priest Fr. Yaroslaw Rij thanked the choir for their wonderful singing. He said they had made it feel like a real celebration.
