In order to prepare a surprise for their mothers, our starshe yunatstvo first had to learn the craft from podruha Nataliya.
Once mastered, they then helped molodshe yunatstvo and the sumenyata create these happy bunnies for their mamas. In order to keep
this surprise a real secret, the bunnies were hidden in a large chest.
Over the course of several weeks, podruha Halya taught the children songs in tribute to Mother Mary, our birth mothers as well as
our Motherland, Ukraine. The children also prepared verses for the concert with the help of pani Svitlana.
On the day of the concert, our mothers and grandmothers gathered at the domivka. The hall was decorated in flowers and embroidered
towels (rushnyky) for the guests. Marta and Slavko lead the concert program, with all the children reciting verses and singing songs
to our "Three Mothers".
All of our youth took part, and even our youngest sumenyata participated by reciting verses and singing specially prepared songs.
Following the concert, druh Ihor got the parents to show-off some theatrical talents. With only a limited amount of time, paired
up adults performed short skits to everyone's amusement. Then mother and daughter teams tried their hand at "braiding" with one hand
from each pair.
To conclude the celebrations, all the mothers and grandmothers received their home-made gifts from the Sumivtsi.
After an enjoyable supper, the hall was transformed into a dancing playground.
