On October 29, 2005, there was a lot of commotion and excitement at our CYM Domivka!
Characters from all sorts of Ukrainian Fairytales arrived for a "zabava".
There were assorted animals-creatures, a "giant", and even a not-so-scary Baba-Yaha!
Our sumivtsi (youth) either prepared their costumes at home or put them together from our
costume wardrobe at the Domivka. Each participant received a "passport" with which they
traveled from Kazka station to "Kazka" station collecting stamps.
At each Kazka station there was a game that represented a Ukrainian fairytale in some aspect.
As our characters made their way through the various Kazka stations, there was tremendous
noise and excitement!
One particular station, called "Koza Dereza" was deafening. Each participant
had a balloon attached to one ankle. They had to stomp around like Koza Dereza and try to pop each
others' balloons before their own balloon was popped. Another popular game was "Kolobok",
but instead of eating a bun, the children had to eat an apple suspended from the ceiling by a
string.
This proved to be quite a challenge! Another fun station was "Khodyt' harbuz po horodu",
where pumpkins were transformed into very interesting baba's and dido's.
Finally, the rest of our
energies were spent at the "disco dance"!
A huge dyaku-you to our vykhovny sklad and parent committee
for all their hard work!
