A new CYM year started in Calgary on September 17, 2005. After a relaxing summer and with renewed energy, our sumivtsi returned to our home,
our "domivka" at the Ukrainian Youth Centre. We began with a general assembly to officially welcome everyone. Our CYM president, Christine
Musienko wished us all a super year ahead.
Our first activity consisted of educational leader, Maria Shysh, introducing the newest members to our branch, reviewing conduct expectations,
as well as, an overview of CYM history in general, and of our branch in particular.
Once the formalities were done, we broke off into our "royee" or groups, chose group names and started working on our flags.
Of the sports activities we had to choose from, most preferred volleyball, while the younger girls preferred badminton.
During choir practice, under the direction of podruha Halya Lypsky-Wilson, we reviewed songs from the previous year. We also
began learning two new Christmas carols that we will be performing at this year's Festival of Carols in December.
Long after our scheduled activities were done, our sumivtsi enjoyed getting reunited after the summer break, and sharing
their adventures with each other.
