This year’s Shchedryy Vechir was organized by our parent committee on January 18, 2009 at the CYM Domivka. Besides our CYM families, we were pleased to have our long-standing friends from the League of Ukrainian Women join us. The traditional dishes were prepared at our homes and brought in for the supper. Podruha Chrystia not only chaired the parent committee but also coordinated this potluck supper.
Our sumivka and president of the Women’s League Oksana Dawid was our emcee for the evening. She started off our feast by asking our chaplain Father Serhiy to lead us with grace and food blessing.
We enjoyed the traditional dishes of kutia, borshch with vushka, fish, varenyky, meetless holubtsi… with pampushky and uzvar to complete our supper.

We learned of some interesting facts about the history of this Feast, it’s traditions and celebrations in different regions of Ukraine from podruha Oksana.
To complete our festive evening as per tradition we all sang carols. We began with traditional carols and ended with carol;s our sumivtsi learned thanks to podruha Halya and our good friends from Ukraine “Lvivs’ki Muzyky”.
