Taras Shevchenko Concert
SUMivky sing "Zore moya vechirnyaya"
During these days of March, the spirit of Taras Shevchenko visits every corner of the world, where
Ukrainians live. The sounds of his poetry can be heard at commemorations and tributes to this Great
Bard.
On Sunday, March 12, 2006, the Ukrainian community of Calgary gathered at the Assumption of BVM
Ukrainian parish hall to honor the memory of the greatest Ukrainian poet, Taras Shevchenko.
Mike Ilnycky, president of UCC Calgary welcomed everyone.
The program opened with the singing of"Reve ta stohne Dnipr shyrokyy" by the Slava Chamber Choir.
Other participants in the program included the Saturday Ukrainian School, SUM, Oksana Kravtchouk and Trio Lybid.

Visitor from Ukraine, Vasyl Proshak, spoke of the phenomenon of Shevchenko as an advisor, Father,
prophet of the future, disciple of the truth and the symbol of Ukraine. Oksana Kravtchouk,
in her tribute, spoke of little-known facts about Shevchenko.
In conclusion, everyone stood for the singing of Shevchenko's "Testament" (Zapovit) by Merited
Artist of Ukraine, Ihor Bohdan and Mykhailo Musienko.
