Our last scheduled CYM day of 2006 was dedicated to starting off the Christmas-New-Year season by celebrating Sviatyy Mykolaj.
Our family program began with the sumenyata. They, along with podruha Marusia, sang a song they prepared for St. Mykolaj.
The older royee then greeted their parents and guests with vinshuvannia they had performed two weeks earlier at the Festival of Carols.
The youth sang two carols, "Oy Pidemo pane Brattiya" and "Syademo do Stolu" from the repertoire of Ukraine's Lvivski Muzyky.
The children were taught these and other carols by podruha Halya. During a previous visit to Calgary, our youth recorded these
songs with our guests from Ukraine.
The children recited lovely poems to St. Mykolaj, and were even joined by the adults in the audience. Parents and grandparents of our Sumivtsi,
I. Bohdan, M. Vrublevska, I. Sirota, M. Shulak and others enjoyed reciting vinshuvannia.
