MOTHER'S DAY
Mama… - Is there a lovelier than this? Our mothers have hands that are kind and giving and have hearts of endless love and sensitivity.
The second Sunday of May is Mother's Day across the world. We celebrate this day to let every mother feel the love and goodness of her children. It is a day when all children, big and small, greet their moms with love and appreciation.
Our Sumivtsi worked hard to prepare gifts for their mamas. These gifts included hand woven works under the guidance of pani Elizabeth, as well
water color paintings done during CYM activities. The children also prepared a short concert to honor their mothers.
On Saturday, the day before Mother's Day, we did not have our usual activities. Instead, the hall was decorated by our Sumivtsi and podruhy
Marusia and Nataliya and the room was full of our mothers and grandmothers
In her opening remarks, podruha Marusia thanked all our mothers for their hard work, generosity and patience in all that they have done and
will continue to do.
Our concert program began with the sumenyata. They sang a song that they learned with podruha Marusia.
Next to perform was podruha Chrystia's group. They recited some lovely poems for their mothers. Then all molodshe yunatstvo came together
to sing "Chornobryvtsi" under the direction of podruha Halya and with some audience participation.
Our starshe yunatstvo, under the direction of podruha Beata, performed a composition of poety and song. The boys recited poetry while the girls
sang, "Mamyna kazka" (words by O. Kononenko)(video on YOUTUBE)
and "Lebedi Materynstva" (V. Symonenko)(video on YOUTUBE).
Although Mother's Day is over, let us do our very best to make every day a special day for our mothers!
