Festival of Carols
Winter has arrived and the Christmas Season is upon us.
Every year, we Sumivtsi start our preparations for this beloved season with the Festival of Carols which is organized by the Ukrainian
Canadian Congress, Calgary Branch.
After a break from performing last year, our yunatstvo again took part in this concert. A lot of hard work went into these preparations.
Podruha Halya Lypsky-Wilson chose and taught the CYM choir some original carols from the repertoire of our friends, the Lvivsky Muzyky.
The instrumental arrangements for our choir were created by our "technical guru", Mykhailo Musienko.
All of a sudden it was December 9 and the Festival of Carols took place. As per tradition, all the choirs opened the concert with "Boh
Predvichnyy". When the CYM choir sang "Oy Pidemo Pane-brattya" and "Bat'kova Khata", many eyes glistened with joy in the audience - the
younger generation is carrying-on the traditions of their parents!
At the closing of the concert, the CYM choir again joined all the choirs in singing the international carol "Silent Night".
The holidays have officially begun now!
